A Simple Way to Keep Your Boiler Serviced

Protekt is Thermatek Heating’s boiler service plan. It takes the cost of your one planned annual boiler service and spreads it across 12 affordable monthly Direct Debit payments, so there’s no single bill to find each year.

Every plan includes a service reminder, help booking your appointment and a record of the service kept on file. Your service is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer who works in your area.

Protekt is a service plan, not insurance or breakdown cover. It keeps your boiler serviced and running well; it does not cover repairs, replacement parts or emergency call-outs.

What’s not included

Breakdown cover, emergency or priority attendance
Fault diagnosis outside the planned service, repairs, replacement parts or labour for remedial work
Powerflushing, draining, descaling, chemical treatment, consumables, upgrades or alterations unless separately quoted
More than one boiler or cylinder, or equipment outside the limits shown
Any work that cannot be completed safely or legally because of access or appliance condition

Protekt Questions, Answered

Is Protekt insurance or breakdown cover?

No. Protekt is a service plan. It spreads the cost of your annual boiler service across affordable monthly payments. It does not cover breakdowns, repairs or replacement parts.

What happens if my boiler breaks down?

Protekt does not include breakdown or repair cover. If something goes wrong we can arrange a repair visit and quote it separately. Keeping your boiler serviced each year is the best way to reduce the chance of a breakdown in the first place.

Can I cancel?

Yes. You have a 14-day cooling-off period after you join. After the initial 12-month term the plan continues monthly and you can cancel at any time. If you cancel after a service has already been carried out, a fair service-value settlement may apply, capped at the lower of the remaining plan instalments and the standalone value of the service supplied.

Which boilers are eligible?

Any domestic natural-gas boiler rated up to 45 kW at an eligible property in Edinburgh or the Lothians. The cylinder add-on covers one unvented hot water cylinder up to 300 litres.

When does my service take place?

We send you a reminder and help you book a convenient appointment. Your first payment must clear before the service is carried out, and the included service is not performed during the 14-day cooling-off period.

How do I pay?

Monthly by Direct Debit through GoCardless. You receive advance notice of every collection and the Direct Debit Guarantee applies.

Ryan literally saved me from a total nervous breakdown. He came onsite to sort out a leak that was flooding the flat below us and the basement. We couldn’t get anyone to help us, agents, plumbers and our boiler manufacturer. I woke him at 8 am and he was onsite doing the repairs necessary by 10am. Couldn’t have asked for more help. Was recommended Thermatek by a family member. Required gas hob removed and sink and washing machine taken out in preparation for new kitchen installation. Job was easy to organise at time I wanted it done. Engineer turned up on time. He explained as he went along and all tasks were completed promptly and efficiently. Engineer was very friendly and easy to talk to. Coming back to reconnect washing machine and fit new sink. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend company.

I had previously always used a different, well known Edinburgh company, for all boiler related servicing and work. When it came to fitting a new boiler, the other company seemed unwilling to relocate the boiler into the attic, nor to deal with a system that included an area of underfloor heating, and gave me a very high quote. When Ryan from Thermatek came to take a look, he was really easy to speak with, said the necessary work could be done no problem and gave me a reasonable quote as well as financing info. He was helpful in arranging fitting dates to work around our needs. Two members of his team have subsequently fit a new boiler for us. They were nice guys, lovely to speak with, were professional and left everything clean and tidy. I really couldn’t have asked for better service and will be using Thermatek going forward for the annual boiler servicing.
